Goodstay Gardens is located on the Wilmington Campus of the University of Delaware at 2700 Pennsylvania Avenue. The gardens are tucked away behind the Osher Center for Lifelong Learning and beside the Goodstay Center Mansion. The gardens are free and open to the public from dawn to dusk, year round.

The 300-acre country estate of the late industrialist and philanthropist Alfred I. DuPont. The grounds surrounding the mansion extend for one third of a mile along the main vista from the house, and are among the finest examples of French-style gardens in the United States reminiscent of Versailles in its fountains and sculptures. University of Delaware Botanical Gardens
The University of Delaware Botanic Gardens traces its roots back to the late 1950’s with the planting of specimen trees and shrubs around Townsend Hall at the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR). The botanic garden is a series of twelve gardens on fifteen acres. Free, donations appreciated.

The 22 acres of gardens include more than 100 larger-than-life topiary forms which serve as backbone and centerpiece to a series of garden rooms. The life sized Hunt Scene of topiary horses, riders, hounds and a fox is one of the most famous of Ladew’s creations.
